Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City (Blue KC) owns three entities that are licensed affiliates of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association and may use the Blue Cross and Blue Shield brand names and trademarks in providing their products and services.

Cobalt Ventures, L.L.C.
Cobalt Ventures is the for-profit holding company for the subsidiaries of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City. These subsidiaries include: New Directions Behavioral Health, Preferred Health Professionals (PHP), and Premier WorkComp Management. These wholly owned subsidiaries support the financial and growth goals of their parent company.   

Good Health HMO, Inc.
Good Health HMO is a for-profit health maintenance organization incorporated by Blue KC in 1988. It operates Blue-Care, an open-panel HMO, and holds Certificates of Authority from the Missouri and Kansas Departments of Insurance. Good Health HMO d/b/a Blue-Care contracts with 32 hospitals, about 3,250 physicians and has an enrollment of over 50,000 members.

Blue KC also owns several entities that are not licensed affiliates of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association and are not authorized by the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association to use the Blue Cross and Blue Shield brand names and trademarks in providing their products and services.

Preferred Health Professionals, LLC
Preferred Health Professionals provides network rental and medical management services for groups and TPAs.

Premier WorkComp Management, L.L.C.
Premier WorkComp Management is a PPO network exclusively for the treatment of work-related injuries and illnesses.

New Directions Behavioral Health, L.L.C.
New Directions manages behavioral health benefits and operates an Employee Assistance Program. 

The Operations Service Center (OSC)
The OSC provides local, dedicated service to national accounts on the Administrative Services Only platform.

The Caring Program for Children
The Caring Program is a foundation that provides medical equipment for children whose families cannot afford it.
