Let\u2019s face it. Healthcare services are not on the usual list of things people shop for. SmartShopper is changing that, and it\u2019s now available to Blue KC members enrolled in an ACA health plan*.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is SmartShopper?<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

SmartShopper is a program that empowers members to be savvy customers of healthcare by shopping, getting estimated prices, comparing providers, and making informed provider decisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ACA members will experience the value of SmartShopper twofold:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  1. Saving money when they shop for certain services<\/a> <\/strong>and choosing a cost-efficient provider<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Receiving a cash reward for doing so<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    SmartShopper is already available on the member portal at MyBlueKC.com. Browse this brief step-by-step guide<\/a> to see just how easy it is for members to access and use SmartShopper. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    How SmartShopper works<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    When a Blue KC ACA member shops for and chooses a cost-effective, in-network provider for healthcare services, Blue KC in partnership with SmartShopper passes on a percentage of the savings to the member as a cash reward. Members can earn up to $250 per year from SmartShopper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    SmartShopper rolls out to ACA members in June<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    Blue KC ACA members will receive several communications about SmartShopper in June, including a welcome email and information about the program in our Well Said eNewsletter. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Help members shift to shopping<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    Shopping for healthcare is a paradigm shift, and you can be instrumental in helping members understand shopping is allowed, encouraged, easy, and can save them money. Plus, when they use SmartShopper, they get the extra benefit of earning a cash reward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    * SmartShopper for ACA is available to individual and family plan ACA members and small group ACA members. \u25aa SmartShopper also is available to employer groups including fully insured large and non-ACA small group members, small group level funded members, and non-ACA individual and family plan members.
