The doc would take your temp, hit your knees with a little hammer, and make you squirm when looking in your ears. The best part: getting a sucker or Pokemon sticker at the end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today we call those appointments annual preventive visits and they carry a lot of weight in:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Preventing illness, disease, and other health problems<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Living a healthier, better-quality life<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lowering overall healthcare costs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The preventive visit lets your&nbsp;primary care provider&nbsp;(PCP) keep tabs on your overall wellness and hear your health concerns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPreventive care is one of the most important aspects of our jobs as physicians,\u201d said Dr. Leann Kridelbaugh, Blue KC Medical Director. \u201cFor children and teens, preventive visits help ensure they are growing and developing normally. The recommended vaccinations your PCP administers for all ages prevent many serious diseases that can be life threatening. For adults, the screening exams detect potential serious health problems early when they are more easily treated.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Everyone \u2013 young children, teens, adults, elderly \u2013 should have an annual preventive visit. It generally includes many&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bluekc.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/09\/FINAL_2023_Preventive_Healthcare_Guide_061323.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">routine preventive services<\/a>, such as immunizations and necessary screenings, and is covered at 100%*.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Schedule your preventive visit<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Contact your PCP to schedule your annual preventive visit. If you don\u2019t have a PCP, don\u2019t worry. You can find an in-network PCP in your neighborhood using the Find Care tool on your member portal.
