Here are answers to many of the questions members regularly ask.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What are generic drugs?&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A less expensive version of brand-name drugs, generics are made with the same active ingredients and are available in the same strengths and dosages as brand names.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What process do generics go through for approval?&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Generics must meet the same strict standards the FDA sets for brand-name drugs. They must be the same in the following ways:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Active ingredient&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strength, dosage form (i.e. tablet or injectable), and route of administration (i.e. oral or topical)&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Manufactured under the same strict standards as the brand-name drug&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Drug label, with certain exceptions&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bioequivalent to the brand name&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Do all drugs have generic equivalents?&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>No, some brand-name drugs are protected by patents for up to 20 years, so a generic cannot be produced immediately.
