When shopping online during the holiday season\u2014or any time of year\u2014always be wary of deals that seem too good to be true. Do your part to avoid becoming a scammer\u2019s next victim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) offers some helpful tips to avoid holiday shopping scams on <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fbi.gov\/how-we-can-help-you\/safety-resources\/scams-and-safety\/common-scams-and-crimes\/holiday-scams\" target=\"_blank\">their website<\/a>. The Federal Trade Commission encourages consumers to report fraud by visiting <a href=\"https:\/\/reportfraud.ftc.gov\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/reportfraud.ftc.gov\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reportfraud.ftc.gov<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And, if you receive any suspicious phone calls over the holidays, here are some helpful tips to keep in mind:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Don\u2019t pick up the phone if you don\u2019t recognize the number.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Never give out personal information over the phone.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Don\u2019t press any numbers as this indicates to the caller that there is a live person on the line, and this will likely lead to more calls.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Request to take down the number of the caller and call them back.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re concerned a call isn\u2019t legitimate, call your state Attorney General\u2019s office hotline. In Kansas, call <a href=\"tel:1-800-432-2310\" data-type=\"tel\" data-id=\"tel:1-800-432-2310\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">1-800-432-2310<\/a>. In Missouri, call <a href=\"tel:1-866-662-2551\" data-type=\"tel\" data-id=\"tel:1-866-662-2551\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">1-866-662-2551<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And remember, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.
