3 ways to stay CMS compliant in 2024
Please review these tips for staying CMS compliant.
- If you use business reply cards to connect with prospects, be aware they expire after 12 months.
- TIP: Write the date of collection on the card for reference.
- Always collect a Scope of Appointment (SOA) – either by paper, electronically, or call recording – when you meet with a client in person or on the phone. The SOA is valid for 12 months from the time it is collected.
- TIP: Use the “Topics the agent and beneficiary discussed” space to document medications and providers the beneficiary inquired about. This protects you if a beneficiary files a complaint with CMS about formulary or network discrepancies.
- Be able to produce a SOA within 48 hours if requested by CMS or a carrier.
- TIP: Keep the SOA for 10 years in a place that is secure but easily accessible. Use the electronic SOA feature in Connecture for ease.
