Members can add dental buy-up during Medicare Advantage OEP
It’s not too late for your clients to add the dental optional supplement benefit to Simply Blue PPO and Valor PPO Blue Medicare Advantage plans.
Clients who missed the opportunity during AEP can add this dental option during the January 1 – March 31 OEP for $25 per month.
The dental buy-up provides a $2,000 annual allowance for use on preventive and comprehensive dental services. There are no deductibles or waiting periods.
Additional dental buy-up details:
- Preventive dental services are covered with $0 copay and include exam, cleaning, x-ray, and fluoride treatment.
- Comprehensive dental services and coinsurance rates include:
- 20% coinsurance – diagnostic services, non-routine services, restorative fillings, and extractions
- 50% coinsurance – periodontics and endodontics (e.g., root canal), restorative services (e.g. crowns)
Participating providers are listed in the Blue Medicare Advantage 2024 Dental Providers list or at medicarebluekc.com/find-care/.
You’ll need to submit a new application to add the dental buy-up. If the member is currently on Blue KC Simply Blue PPO, they must continue with the previously selected bundle.
