At 87% sensitivity<sup>1<\/sup>, the mammogram is a good early detection screening that can lessen the need for mastectomy or chemotherapy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who\u2019s at risk of breast cancer?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Family history can play an important role in knowing and understanding your breast cancer risk, as can drinking alcohol, smoking, obesity, and taking hormone therapy for symptoms of menopause. However, you can work toward lowering your risk by:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Getting to and staying at a healthy weight<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Being physically active<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Avoiding or limiting alcohol<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Not smoking<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Know the facts<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Women have a one in eight chance of developing breast cancer in their lifetime.<sup>2<\/sup><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lifetime risk of developing breast cancer for women with an inherited gene mutation<sup>3<\/sup>:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>60-70% for BRCA1<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>55-70% for BRCA2<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>40-50% of women ages 40-74 have dense breasts<sup>4<\/sup>, raising their risk and eligibility for consideration for supplemental MRI screening.<sup>5<\/sup><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The 5-year survival rate is 99% for localized breast cancer when detected early.<sup>6<\/sup><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Schedule your $0 screening mammogram<sup>7<\/sup><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now is always the best time to schedule your screening mammogram.
