And preventive healthcare, which starts at your annual preventive visit, can lead to a lifetime of good health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your annual preventive visit (often referred to as a yearly checkup) carries a lot of weight in helping:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Prevent illness, disease, and other health problems<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Live a healthier, better-quality life<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lower overall healthcare costs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Everyone \u2013 young children, teens, adults \u2013 should have an annual preventive visit. It generally includes routine preventive services and is covered at 100%<sup>1<\/sup>.\u00a0\u00a0Download our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bluekc.com\/blueprint\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2024\/02\/24_Preventitive_Healthcare_Guide_2-13-24.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Preventive Healthcare Guide<\/a> to keep pace with the services you and your doctor should discuss.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Preventive health updates to note<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Please take note of these important updates related to RSV and cancer screenings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>RSV <\/strong>\u2013 The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) added an RSV recommendation to the list of annual immunizations for babies, pregnant people, and people 60 years old and older. You\u2019ll see this listed on the Preventive Healthcare Guide.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bluekc.com\/blueprint\/healthier-living\/cancer-care\/blue-kc-encourages-cancer-screenings-for-early-detection\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Cancer screenings<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Cancer screenings were greatly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, with 9.4 million screenings left undone<sup>2<\/sup>. Blue KC recommends starting or resuming an annual screening schedule, particularly for breast, colorectal, and cervical cancers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Colorectal cancer and people under 55 <\/strong>\u2013 The number of people under age 55 diagnosed with colorectal cancer has doubled since 1995, according to American Cancer Society data<sup>3<\/sup>. If you don\u2019t have a PCP, you can find one in-network using the Find Care tool on your member portal. Visit&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/members.bluekc.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>MyBlueKC.com<\/strong><\/a>, select Find Care, then enter any of the following in the search bar: PCP, family medicine, internal medicine, general practice, pediatrician, or a specific provider name.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re enrolled in a plan with exclusive access to&nbsp;Spira Care Centers, schedule your $0<sup>4 <\/sup>preventive visit at one of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/spiracare.com\/care-centers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>nine Spira Care Centers<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;in the Kansas City metro area.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you schedule your appointment, be sure to:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ask for preventive care screenings and tests that are 100% covered by your plan.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ask if talking about non-preventive-care health problems during your appointment will lead to extra
