Women have a 1 in 8 chance of developing it in their lifetime<sup>2<\/sup>. But when detected early, the five-year survival rate for localized breast cancer is 99%<sup>3<\/sup>. The best way to detect breast cancer early is through an annual mammogram.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bluekc.com\/blueprint\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/09\/FINAL_Mammogram-Early-Detection.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Learn more about mammograms<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Cervical cancer screening<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The cervical cancer screening looks for cervical cell changes caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). Blue KC recommends the pap test, which collects and tests cervical cells, every three years for women 21 to 29 years old and every three to five years for women 30 to 65<sup>4<\/sup>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Colorectal cancer screening<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer in men and women in the U.S.<sup>5<\/sup> When detected early, colorectal cancer is usually smaller and might be easier to treat. If you don\u2019t have a PCP, you can find one in network using the Find Care tool on your member portal. Visit&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/members.bluekc.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>MyBlueKC.com<\/strong><\/a>, select Find Care, then enter any of the following in the search bar: PCP, family medicine, internal medicine, general practice, pediatrician, or a specific provider name.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you schedule your appointment, be sure to:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ask for preventive care screenings and tests that are 100%<sup>6<\/sup> covered by your plan.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ask if talking about non-preventive-care health problems during your appointment will lead to extra costs.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re enrolled in a Blue KC plan with exclusive access to&nbsp;Spira Care Centers, schedule your $0<sup>7 <\/sup>preventive visit at one of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/spiracare.com\/care-centers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>nine Spira Care Centers<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;in
