<\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\nWATCH VIDEO<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Monica says being raised in the Heartland, and now living and working here, gives her a unique perspective and opportunity to help her community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWhat better way to give back to a community [than] to be a part of the community, know exactly how it worked beforehand, and how you can make an impact in the future,\u201d Monica said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n She\u2019s called Blue KC her work home for more than 20 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYou want to feel a part of something, and Blue KC makes you feel that way,\u201d Monica said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Monica says her role at Blue KC \u201callows me to be in the community and do what I really like to do \u2013 constantly talking to people, making sure that they stay healthy, and it also allows me to do a lot of the community service things that I do currently,\u201d too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Monica\u2019s involved in a long and growing list of community activities, including volunteering at:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Often, people think about monetary donations when it comes to supporting charity and nonprofit work. But Monica recognizes that time is a valuable resource which can empower people to get involved in their community regardless of finances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIf you [don\u2019t] have the finances to do something, make that connection with a person, because they will recognize and remember that conversation with you versus that monetary donation,\u201d Monica said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n That\u2019s something that Blue KC values, too, evidenced by our volunteer paid time off (VTO) policy implemented in 2022 and our regular service to the Kansas City community<\/a>. Recently, Blue KC teams spent more than 500 hours volunteering<\/a> at local organizations during National Volunteer Week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We\u2019re thankful Monica and so many more employees exemplify our values and shine light in the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Whether it\u2019s a volunteer event facilitated through Blue KC, or helping the elderly on her own time, you\u2019re sure to find Monica giving her time to a good cause in her hometown \u2013 and she just might be in costume.<\/p>\n\n\n\n From everyone at Blue KC: Thank you, Monica, for all you do!<\/p>\n\n\n\n In the coming months, we\u2019ll be shining the spotlight on other employees, such as Monica, who are sharing their time and talents to strengthen the community.
