Here are answers to many of the questions members regularly ask.\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What are generic drugs?\u202f<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A less expensive version of brand-name drugs, generics are made with the same active ingredients and are available in the same strengths and dosages as brand names.\u202f<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What process do generics go through for approval?\u202f<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Generics must meet the same strict standards the FDA sets for brand-name drugs. They must be the same in the following ways:\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Active ingredient\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strength, dosage form (i.e. tablet or injectable), and route of administration (i.e. oral or topical)\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Manufactured under the same strict standards as the brand-name drug\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Drug label, with certain exceptions\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bioequivalent to the brand name\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Do all drugs have generic equivalents?\u202f<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>No, some brand-name drugs are protected by patents for up to 20 years, so a generic cannot be produced immediately. However, about half of all prescription drugs on the market do have generic versions available.\u202f\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How do I get a generic drug?\u202f<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Blue KC takes care of this for members.
