Activate Multi-Factor Authentication Now for a Smooth OEP

July 2022

Open enrollment period (OEP) is just a few heat waves away, and Blue KC wants to help you be as prepared as possible. That means taking steps now so you can jump into Federally Facilitated Marketplace (FFM) registration and training when it opens for plan year 2023.

One of the most important actions to take now is ensuring you have registered a multi-factor authentication (MFA) device for your CMS Enterprise portal account.

MFA adds a layer of security to your account, which will help avoid disruption to your CMS system access. If not set up, the “double redirect” process will fail, and you will not be able to log in to HealthCare.gov after being redirected from a private website. This is especially critical if you enroll consumers through the Classic Direct Enrollment (DE) pathway.

That’s a lot of techy talk and acronyms for these two easy steps:

  1. Read the instructions for Managing MFA
  2. Log in to the CMS Enterprise Portal and register a device for MFA.
