On January 1, 2023, the Federal Transparency in Coverage (TinC) Rule went into effect requiring health plans to provide an online self-service price transparency tool for members. Blue KC partners with Sapphire Digital to provide the Find Care tool. On December 28, 2022, Blue KC deployed Sapphire Digital’s enhanced TinC user interface, where we expect all functionality required by the mandate to be available to Blue KC members.
Required functionality of the enhanced user interface is in production. Blue KC expects the experience to improve as we continue to work with Sapphire Digital and the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association to improve data and data structures powering the enhancements in Find Care.
The TinC Rule includes safe harbor language for entities acting in good faith to meet the mandate requirements. We anticipate Blue KC’s ongoing efforts to comply on behalf of our fully-insured and self-funded customers will meet the requirements of the safe harbor.
