The BlueSelect Plus and BlueSelect networks have expanded their footprints.
On November 15, three hospitals – Providence Medical Center, St. Joseph Medical Center, and St. Mary’s Medical Center – joined the networks, increasing the number of hospitals to 16 in BlueSelect Plus and 14 in BlueSelect.
The addition of these hospitals applies to:
- ACA Individual and Family plans with BlueSelect Plus and BlueSelect
- Commercial plans with BlueSelect Plus

*BlueSelect Plus and BlueSelect also include specialty hospitals Ascentist Healthcare and Kansas City Orthopedic Institute and over 50 Ambulatory Surgical Centers (ASC). ASCs are modern care facilities focused on providing same-day surgical care, including diagnostic and preventive procedures, and may be more cost effective.
How plan types work within the networks
EPO: Clients in an EPO plan type (all ACA IFP clients and some commercial clients) have in-network coverage when using the networks, but no out-of-network coverage, EXCEPT for emergency services.
PPO: Clients in a PPO plan type (some commercial clients) have some out-of-network coverage, but higher out-of-pocket costs will apply.
