Members get a close, ongoing relationship with their Care Team built around delivering advanced primary care in a team-based approach that treats patients as a person, not a set of symptoms. All at no or low additional cost to the member.
New Spira Care Center in Independence opening later this year. To better serve our members enrolled in plans with exclusive access to Spira Care, we are opening a ninth Spira Care Center in the Kansas City metro area and the first in Independence, Missouri. The newest location, 3717 S. Whitney Ave., is opening in December, is easily accessible from 291 Highway, and will serve eligible members living or working in the largest suburb on the Missouri side of the KC metropolitan area. Spira Care Independence will feature 12 exam rooms, x-ray, routine lab, behavioral health, health coaching, diabetes education consult rooms, and a member education classroom. The other eight Spira Care Centers are in the Crossroads, Lee’s Summit, Liberty, Olathe, Overland Park, Tiffany Springs, Shawnee, and Wyandotte. First dollar coverage at Spira Care Centers. Blue KC members enrolled in a plan (without a Health Savings Account (HSA)) with exclusive access to Spira Care Centers, will incur no additional cost for any appointments or procedures provided at Spira Care Centers. All ACA and MA plans and most Group plans with Spira Care fall in the no additional cost or first dollar coverage category. There is one exception. Blue KC members enrolled in a plan (with an HSA) with exclusive access to Spira Care Centers, will incur a low cost for any appointments or procedures provided at Spira Care Centers. This $60 charge per appointment or procedure could be less if the member is close to meeting their out-of-pocket max for the year. Once members with an HSA satisfy their out-of-pocket max, all services at Spira Care Centers going forward are at no additional cost. Preventive services are always covered at 100%.

Spire Care Teams provide advanced primary care for children and adolescents at low to no additional cost, including well-child care; age-appropriate screening, growth, and development tracking; diagnosis and management of childhood illness; care of chronic conditions; behavioral health of adolescents; care of the youth athlete; and healthy habits coaching.

Spira Care offers eligible members a wide range of services. Spira Care offers appointments for primary care, routine preventive care, sick care, chronic medical condition management, behavioral health consultations, and health coaching. Appointments are available Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Fridays 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and some locations are open Saturdays 8 a.m. to noon. Learn more.
