Blue KC Helps Fight Summer Hunger in KC

July 2022

Blue KC’s Well Stocked initiative brings local partners together to increase awareness of hunger issues facing underserved areas of Kansas City. Over the summer months, Blue KC employees participate in educational opportunities and get involved with local organizations that help feed our community. Get to know some of our community partners and their events.

Cultivate KC Homegrown Happy Hour – On July 12, employees participated in a family friendly happy hour at Juniper Gardens Training Farm to stroll through the farm, meet a farmer and Cultivate KC staff members, and learn about Cultivate KC and its New Roots for Refugees program.

After the Harvest 2022 “Amaizing” Sweet Corn Glean-A-Thon – Tomorrow, July 22, we’ll join After the Harvest to help glean 50,000 ears of fresh sweet corn to feed food insecure individuals in our community. As part of its gleaning program, After the Harvest partners with more than 175 farmers to rescue produce and deliver it to more than 360 local agencies. Learn more about the gleaning program.

Harvesters Volunteer Opportunities – Blue KC teams are collectively volunteering nearly 100 hours this summer at Harvesters Community Food Network, with additional opportunities always available.
