Parade of Hearts: A Heartland Celebration|Parade of Hearts: A Heartland Celebration

March 2022

If you are looking for an outdoor activity filled with heart, look no further than your very own Kansas City metro area.

Blue KC is proud to be a co-presenting sponsor of a new public art project called Parade of Hearts. The initiative invited artists to design five-foot tall fiberglass heart sculptures. The hearts, 154 of them designed by 123 artists, are displayed across the Kansas City region from March through May 2022.

The sculptures will be auctioned off in June to support the project’s charitable beneficiaries, including the Mid-America Regional Council, University of Kansas Health System, Visit KC Foundation and AltCap.

We love our city

“Celebrating regional unity through public art is something Union Station is thrilled to support. The fact that we’re able to host the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City heart is a further honor. Placed on our East Transit Plaza, this impressive creation will be enjoyed by tens of thousands of guests as it sits between our two iconic buildings. This is a truly meaningful partnership and philanthropic project,” said George Guastello, Union Station president and CEO.

As part of our sponsorship, Blue KC selected locations to display the eight hearts shown above. Look for them at these community partners and Federally Qualified Health Centers: Harvesters, KC Care Health Center, Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center, Swope Health, Union Station, Variety KC location (Tiffany Hills Park playground), Veterans Community Project, and Vibrant Health.
