This month, Blue KC welcomed members to a new Find Care experience on the member portal, MyBlueKC.com. Find Care is a cost-sharing estimate and price comparison tool that empowers members to see and compare costs for healthcare. With this tool, members can better understand healthcare expenses before a doctor visit or procedure and avoid billing surprises.
As part of the Find Care experience, your employees also have access to the SmartShopper* program. With SmartShopper, employees can earn a cash reward when they shop for and select SmartShopper-eligible procedures. Yes, it pays to shop for care. And yes, SmartShopper has become a way of life for millions of healthcare consumers.
What kind of procedures can Blue KC members shop for?
SmartShopper enables employers to incentivize members to shop for cost-effective care for common medical services and procedures, preventive exams, imaging scans, and more complex scheduled surgeries.
Examples of qualifying routine care include:
- Bloodwork
- MRIs
- Mammograms
- Colonoscopies
- Cancer screenings
Examples of qualifying complex care include:
- Knee replacement
- Hip replacement
- Spine surgery
