At Blue KC, a big part of our commitment to providing affordable access to healthcare is making sure the care our members receive is appropriate, necessary, and cost effective. That’s why we require prior authorization for certain services, procedures and medications. You can click here for a complete list. All scheduled medical and surgical hospital admissions must be prior authorized.

To help you and your employees better understand the purpose and protocols for prior authorizations, we’ve created a flyer that provides an overview of what’s expected from members and their providers. It also includes common questions, helpful links, and resources.
