It’s the age-old workout question: weights or cardio? Should I lift or should I run? Psst, spoiler alert: you should do both. It’s true. Cardio is the only exercise known to lower the risk of heart disease, which is our nation’s #1 killer. Weight training exercises keep us strong and help us remain active as we get older. Even better, both are excellent at boosting our cognitive health (keeping our brains sharp) and improving our well-being (mood.) But don’t take our word for it, listen to the American College of Sports Medicine who suggests we all get 30 minutes of cardio five days a week plus two days of weight training per week for a happy, healthy, and fit life.
