$0 telehealth could end December 31 for HSA plans

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services plans to end its COVID-era $0 telehealth copay for health savings account (HSA) plans at the end of 2024, unless a bill currently in Congress passes. The bill is getting bipartisan support.

The current $0 copay applies to individuals in large and small group HSA products who use telehealth services before they meet their deductible.

What does the end of $0 telehealth mean for groups?

Small groups – Upon renewal in 2025, individuals in small group HSA products will have to meet their deductible before the $0 telehealth copay applies.

Large groups – Upon renewal in 2025, individuals in large group HSA products will have to meet their deductible and coinsurance, if applicable.

Blue KC will monitor the progress of the bill and provide an update.
