Groups required to complete prescription drug data collection survey
Employer groups have received via email Blue KC’s plan year 2023 Consolidated Appropriations Act (CAA) prescription drug data collection (RxDC) reporting survey.
Survey
On April 3, 2024, Blue KC emailed group contacts (all insured and self-funded) about the RxDC reporting survey, including a link to the survey.
Due to a technical issue with the survey link, we sent a follow-up email on April 5 with a refreshed link. Groups whose email addresses bounced and those with no email address on file will receive a letter via U.S. mail.
The survey requests:
- Average monthly premium amount paid by the employer (on behalf of members)
- Average monthly premium amount paid by members
- Total annual premium/premium equivalent amount
Submission
Groups are required to complete the survey, and the government will take compliance measures against nonadherence. Please let your employer groups know about this requirement and the importance of complying.
- Blue KC will submit required reporting to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) on behalf of groups for the services we provide.
- If the employer group was with another insurance carrier in 2023, Blue KC will not submit information on its behalf.
- If a group is currently terminated but was with Blue KC in 2023, it received a survey, and we will submit on its behalf for the services we provided.
- For groups that carve out certain services such as pharmacy (applicable to 100+ segment only), the federal government will allow for multiple report submissions from separate entities.
Deadline and key points
The response deadline is May 3, 2024. This is a firm deadline.
- Only one person should complete the survey to avoid duplicates.
- If an employer group did not receive the survey, it may not have a current email or address on file. Please contact your Blue KC representative with an updated email address. It is imperative we have contact information on file.
- If we do not receive a response by May 3, 2024, the group will not be included in data submitted to CMS regarding premiums paid by employer versus employee.
