Groups to receive annual notice about prescription drug plan coverage

Each year, employers must notify Medicare-eligible employees covered under the employer’s prescription drug plans as to whether the employee’s current prescription drug coverage is creditable or non-creditable. Creditable coverage means it expects to pay on average as much as the standard Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage.

Blue KC tests prescription drug plans to determine creditable or non-creditable coverage

Blue KC assists employers by testing whether the prescription drug plans we administer are creditable or non-creditable.

We will communicate our findings to large and small group employers starting in late August via email and in mid-September via letter to groups whose emails were unopened or undelivered.

Employers must notify employees by October 15, before the Medicare Part D Annual Coordinated Election Period, to let them know if their plans are creditable or non-creditable.

If you have questions about the communication your clients will receive, please contact your Blue KC representative.
