New pharmacy program offers discount pricing for eligible, generic drugs
Members will have access to a new pharmacy discount program starting January 1, 2024. Price Edge is an integrated solution that will automatically provide the best available price on eligible, on-benefit and off-benefit generic drugs. For on-benefit drugs, the discount will apply to a member’s deductible and out-of-pocket (OOP) maximum. Price Edge is offered by Blue KC’s pharmacy benefit manager at no cost.

Members benefit in several ways:
- Simple experience because of the integrated discount
- No need to use an off-benefit program for discounts
- Costs for on-benefit drugs apply to deductible and OOP maximum
- Blue KC provides clinical oversight for on-benefit claims
- No additional cost to use
How to use Price Edge
To claim a discount on a qualifying drug, members simply show their Blue KC member ID and prescription at an in-network pharmacy. The discount will automatically apply at any in-network retail and mail order pharmacy.
Members can see if a Price Edge discount applies to a new or existing drug using the drug pricing tool on the MyBlueKC app or MyBlueKC.com. If the drug has a Price Edge discount, this message will appear below the price: “We found you a competitive low market price with Price Edge.”
