Privacy updates help keep member data secure
Due to increasing cybersecurity threats facing the healthcare industry, Blue KC is making additional changes to our member portal and mobile app login experience. These upgrades are part of our ongoing efforts to safeguard member data and provide peace of mind.
What are the changes?
- Six-digit verification code at log in: Members will have experienced this change if they’ve logged into their member portal or the MyBlueKC app since mid-September. Upon log in they are asked to confirm their identity by entering the six-digit verification code that was emailed to them. Members can choose how often they prefer to receive a verification code.
- Text message verification codes: By the end of 2024, members can decide whether they want to receive the six-digit verification code via email or text message, providing added customization and ease to this experience.
- Removal of Google and Apple login options: On December 2, 2024, we will discontinue Google and Apple login options to align with updated best practices for healthcare and financial services organizations. Members who have used these options were notified earlier this month with applicable instructions.
Privacy updates also will be coming to the Blue KC agent and employer portals in the coming months.
If your clients need assistance accessing their accounts online, they can call Customer Service at the number on their member ID card.
