The program empowers you to be a savvy customer of healthcare by shopping, getting estimated pricing, comparing procedure locations, and making informed decisions.
How can I earn cash rewards from SmartShopper?
SmartShopper estimates the cost of several in-network facilities when you shop for healthcare procedures. If you have your procedure at one of these options, you earn a cash reward.
What procedures are eligible for cash rewards?
Routine procedures, x-rays, preventive exams, imaging scans, and surgeries may qualify for cash rewards. Some examples of SmartShopper-eligible procedures include MRIs, mammograms, colonoscopies, blood work, and joint replacements.
What is a typical cash reward?
The amount of a cash reward you earn depends on the procedure, and you can earn up to $250 in one year.
When can I expect to receive my rewards?
On average, it can take 45 to 90 days from the date of service to receive rewards.

How do I get started?
When your doctor recommends a procedure, log onto your member portal at MyBlueKC.com or on the MyBlueKC mobile app.
- Go to Find Care, click SmartShopper, and search by procedure.
- Your search will display estimated costs and the maximum SmartShopper reward you can earn.
- After comparing options, choose the best care for you and schedule an appointment at the rewards-eligible facility.
- Following your procedure, SmartShopper will receive your claim, process your reward, and mail a check to your home address.
