KANSAS CITY, MO. (June 3, 2022)—Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City (Blue KC) is proud to celebrate Pride Month throughout June, demonstrating support for the LGBTQ+ community in Kansas City through partnerships with the Kansas City Current and KC PrideFest.

On Saturday, June 4, Blue KC will serve as presenting sponsor of Pride Night, as the Current take on San Diego Wave FC at Children’s Mercy Park. The annual event, which was the Current’s highest attended match in 2021, will include a Pride rally towel giveaway for the first 3,000 fans through the gates. Those that purchase the special Pride Night Theme Ticket will also receive a custom Pride fanny pack, with a portion of the proceeds funding nonprofits supporting the LGBTQ+ community in the Kansas City area. Additionally, Blue KC is presenting sponsor of the Pride Night Resource Fair, located on Mazuma Plaza prior to the match. To further commemorate Pride Month, the Current will be wearing a special Pride jersey for all four of their home matches in June.

Blue KC is also a sponsor of KC PrideFest, an LGBTQ+ festival taking place Friday, June 10 through Sunday, June 12 at Theis Park, near the Country Club Plaza. KC PrideFest will feature a main stage with local acts, vendors, food trucks, family activities and more. All ages are welcome with Sunday activities focused on family friendly activities and entertainment. On Saturday, June 11, a group of Blue KC employees will participate in the PrideFest parade. The parade begins at the corner of Westport Rd. & Pennsylvania Ave. before reaching its endpoint of Theis Park, located at 47th & Oak St., across from the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.

Blue KC was named the official healthcare partner of the KC Current (formerly the Kansas City NWSL) in June of 2021, collaborating on multiple initiatives over the past year, including Pride Night, a Blue KC jersey patch and a behavioral health platform.
