KANSAS CITY, MO. (September 28, 2022)—Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City (Blue KC) is proud to announce Emanuel McCrainey, Department Vice President of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Talent, was named a finalist for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Executive of the Year at the First Annual Inclusion Awards presented by HRO Today. The awards were part of the HRO Today Inclusion Summit at the AMA Conference Center in Atlanta, GA.

The 2022 Inclusion Awards recognized the work of HR, business leadership and DEI executives who effectively implemented programs that promoted an inclusive workplace, enhanced their employer brand and improved employee engagement and retention. Finalists were selected by an HRO Today judging panel from nominees submitted by HR professionals.

“The fact that Emanuel was recognized for his DEI leadership is a testament to his drive, passion and commitment,” said Erin Stucky, President and CEO of Blue KC. “Blue KC strives to be a diverse and equitable workplace, and Emanuel personifies everything we want our company and our employees to be. We celebrate his nomination for this prestigious award.”

The Inclusion Awards were developed by SharedXpertise Media, publishers of HRO Today magazine and HRO Today Global, producers of the Baker’s Dozen Customer Satisfaction Ratings, and organizers of the HRO Today Forums and Educational Events. HRO Today has a long tradition of supporting the work of HR and talent management executives.

“Being nominated alongside the fantastic individuals represented at the Diversity Awards was such an honor,” said McCrainey. “Blue KC is part of a growing number of organizations prioritizing diversity, equity and inclusion at every level of their corporate structure. Focused DEI programs aren’t only a social responsibility, but they also have a positive impact on the bottom line. I’m proud to play a small part in the larger picture we all hope to achieve.”

The HRO Today Inclusion Summit featured stories from diversity advocates who are adopting systemic, business-led approaches to DEI. Featured speakers highlighted specific interventions where they are taking bold action to create a long-lasting inclusive culture.
