KANSAS CITY, MO. (February 19, 2021)—Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City (Blue KC), the region’s largest not-for-profit healthcare insurance provider, has been re-certified at the Platinum Level for Workplace Wellness by the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce Healthy KC Workplace Wellness Certification Program. Platinum is the highest level of certification within the program.
The Healthy KC Workplace Wellness Certification program recognizes area organizations for innovation and excellence in promoting a culture of health in the workplace. Certifications range from Honorable Mention to Platinum and are based on five pillars of health:
- Healthy Eating
- Active Living
- Tobacco Cessation
- Work-Life Integration
- Design-Built Environment
This year’s Workplace Wellness Certification had a specific focus on policies and measures implemented to ensure the health and wellbeing of the workforce and creating a more inclusive and equitable environment to ensure employees’ mental health. With the COVID-19 pandemic, remote workforce challenges, and an increased need in behavioral health services, Blue KC added valuable programs, tools and updates to keep their workforce healthy.
