KANSAS CITY, MO. (December 20, 2022)—Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City (Blue KC) announced that members of plans with exclusive access to Spira Care Centers have a new location to visit in Independence, Missouri. The new Spira Care Center opened its doors to patients on December 8, 2022, to offer further accessibility to its unique and personalized care approach.
Blue KC launched its insurance plans with exclusive access to Spira Care Centers in 2018 as an integrated offering that simplifies the healthcare experience to give members increased access to primary care. Spira Care Centers combine an Advanced Primary Care offering with health insurance coverage, with a focus on preventive care to assist members in their health journey and to minimize costs. At Spira Care Independence, members will also have access to X-rays, routine lab work, health coaching and diabetes education.
Members enrolled in Blue KC plans with Spira Care have access to the expertise of Care Guides, nine Spira Care Centers and virtual care for their physical and behavioral healthcare needs. Spira Care Guides, real people with nursing and benefit backgrounds, are on-site at each location and can answer member questions, explain benefits and costs and coordinate care in and out of a Care Center. At Spira Care Centers, members also have access to doctor visits for low to no additional cost.
