Blue KC to provide free health screenings during festival to further health equity

KANSAS CITY, MO. (June 17, 2022)—Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City (Blue KC) is proud to partner with JuneteenthKC as part of its 11th annual JuneteenthKC Heritage Festival, hosted within the 18th & Vine Historic Jazz District. Aligning with the focus of delivering equitable health opportunities and positive outcomes, Blue KC will be providing free health screenings to festival patrons to raise awareness and promote wellness throughout the Kansas City community.

The screenings, performed by nurses from Blue KC’s Spira Care Centers, will test for important metrics that impact parental health, including blood pressure and BMI. The screenings will be available at the Blue KC Heritage Festival event booth on June 18th from 12pm – 4pm.

JuneteenthKC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to honoring and celebrating the Juneteenth holiday in Kansas City. The organization collaborates with community stakeholders and African American cultural and educational agencies to host a cultural event that brings people together from all backgrounds to celebrate the progression of the African American community and enjoy the spirit of remembrance, unity, and personal independence. JuneteenthKC features a variety of community-focused musical performances, live entertainment, public-service opportunities, and youth-oriented vendors and encourages people of all backgrounds to learn about African American history and grow together.
