Kansas City, MO. (October 24, 2017) — Strategic Healthcare Solutions is proud to announce that Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City’s (Blue KC) Preferred-Care Blue attained a Commendable status from National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), improving from the accredited status held since January 2017 and Blue-Care retained a Commendable status.
NCQA is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to improving health care quality. NCQA’s Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS®) is the most widely used performance measurement tool in health care. NCQA accredits and certifies a wide range of health care organizations and recognizes physicians in key clinical areas.
Blue KC received the highest score possible on standard performance, locking in a 50 out of 50 points for the three-year accreditation cycle. HEDIS scores for Blue-Care improved by 7 percent and Preferred-Care Blue improved by 4 percent. Standard requirements include Quality Management & Improvement, Network Management, Utilization Management, Credentialing & Recredentialing, Members’ Rights and Responsibilities and Member Connections.
It is no small feat to achieve a Commendable status, earned by diligence and a commitment to excellence in all areas of the company. Blue KC will hold the Commendable status until the fall of 2018, at which time the annual HEDIS review will determine the accreditation status moving forward.
