KANSAS CITY, MO. (May 31, 2019) —On June 7, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City (Blue KC) will further introduce Spira Care to Kansas Citians at the unveiling of its new mural on the wall of its Spira Care Center located in the heart of the Crossroads Arts District. Blue KC plans to celebrate the latest addition to the District’s growing artistry as part of First Friday, a monthly event in which residents come together to explore exhibits, food, entertainment, and a sense of community.

This year, Blue KC commissioned an original mural by local artist Dave Douglas, which will be unveiled for the first time at the June First Friday event. The celebration will take place from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. with light appetizers, live music, and artwork from local artists.

“First Friday is a beloved and treasured event that brings together the entire community,” said Tim O’Brien, Vice President, Executive Director Care Delivery of Blue KC. “We’re honored to be taking part in this month’s event and to unveil a new mural that contributes to the Arts District, showcasing the immense talent that exists in our home of Kansas City.”

The event, which will also feature artwork by local artists Travis Porter and Jackie Eatinger, works to amplify Spira Care’s continued dedication to the community. Spira Care, a combined primary care and insurance offering exclusively available to eligible Blue KC members, is built around member and patient experiences, helping consumers create a health plan that is easy to understand and even easier to use.
