KANSAS CITY, MO. (June 26, 2021)—Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City (Blue KC) is proud to join our partner, Kansas City National Women’s Soccer League (KC NWSL), in celebrating LGBTQ+ Pride Month during their home game Saturday, June 26, designated as Pride Night.

On June 23, Blue KC was named the official health insurance partner of KC NWSL, making Blue KC the official jersey sleeve partner of the club. As part of this partnership, Blue KC and KC NWSL announced they will be introducing a behavioral health platform later this season to help improve behavioral health in Kansas City, a shared mission of both organizations.

In support of KC NWSL and Pride Night, Blue KC’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) team sponsored 250 tickets for Blue KC employees and their friends and families to attend the game. This game is remarkably special as it celebrates and demonstrates support for LGBTQ+ communities locally and around the world.

“At Blue KC, we are committed to creating and maintaining an inclusive culture where diversity is valued and leveraged toward a mission of which all employees share – improved health and well-being for all Kansas Citians,” said Emanuel McCrainey, Blue KC’s Department Vice President of Diversity and Talent Acquisition. “We are honored and excited to participate in the Pride Night experience, where we can root for KC NWSL and demonstrate support for the LGBTQ+ community.”

KC NWSL was announced as an expansion team in December 2020. Since then, the team has seen incredible support from the community and local businesses. Blue KC is proud to be partnering with KC NWSL and excited for the positive impact this partnership will have on the community.

More information on the partnership is available here.
