The goal of Spira Care is to change the face of healthcare by delivering a member-centered care experience that empowers change in our members’ health and lives – and that starts at our Care Centers.
Spira Care combines care and coverage under one roof, simplifying the traditional healthcare experience and making it more personal and affordable for everyone. Since opening our first Spira Care Centers in Olathe and Shawnee in Kansas, we’ve seen firsthand that this approach is working, and we’re thrilled to bring Spira Care to Missouri. Beginning in January 2019, eligible members will have greater access to the Spira Care experience via three new Care Centers located in Liberty, Lee’s Summit and the Crossroads District.
We strive to give members a simplified experience with the highest level of care, every time they walk through a Care Center’s doors.

- Adult and pediatric primary care
- Chronic condition management
- Behavioral health consultation
- Digital X-rays*
- Lab draws
- Onsite prescription services**
Since opening, the Olathe and Shawnee Spira Care Centers have welcomed thousands of members through their doors, and the innovative experience has not gone unnoticed. Members agree that the Care Centers’ comfortable settings, access to common prescriptions filled onsite** and coordinated follow-up with a Care Guide provides a simple, personal healthcare experience.
Each Care Center is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and technology. We offer lab services at all Care Centers and digital X-rays* at select locations. Often, a member gets an X-ray and sits down minutes later with his or her doctor to review the results. Spira Care offers the convenience of onsite prescription services for approximately 50 of the top generic prescriptions at a member’s regular copay or deductible level.
To help support your Spira Care journey, you have access to a Care Guide – many with nursing and/or benefits backgrounds – who coordinates your care, answers your questions and explains your benefits. Care Guides serve as members’ points of contact for both care and coverage questions – putting you at the center of your care.

Services received outside of the Care Center from providers in the BlueSelect Plus network will be subject to the plan deductible. After the deductible is met, services received from BlueSelect Plus providers are covered at 100 percent. Members will also have the nationwide coverage of the BlueCard network outside the 32-county Blue KC service area. Non-emergency services received from non-network providers will not be covered under the plan.
*X-rays are available at select locations only, but are at no additional cost to members.
**Spira Care offers the convenience of onsite prescription services for approximately 50 of the top generic prescriptions at the member’s regular copay or deductible level. If the doctor orders a prescription that cannot be filled onsite, the Care Team will facilitate prescription services through convenient mail order or at a preferred pharmacy at the regular cost-sharing level.
