Blue KC Awards 2020 Healthcare Innovation Prize

May 7, 2020

For the third year in a row, Blue KC has partnered with the Regnier Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation and the Henry W. Bloch School of Management at the University of Missouri – Kansas City (UMKC) to award the 2020 Blue KC Healthcare Innovation Prize. The Blue KC Healthcare Innovaton Prize seeks ventures that can improve the patient or member experience through care delivery innovation, digital health capabilities, tools, devices, apps, or other advancements that positively impact the value proposition.

A first place prize of $5,000 was awarded to WartPatch, a technology that stimulates the immune system to fight off warts.

WartPatch is the first pain-free, kid-friendly cure for warts. The idea for the innovative therapy was conceived at MIT’s Hacking Dermatology in September 2019 with a team of clinicians who were determined to improve upon existing wart treatments for children. WartPatch plans to use the $5,000 prize money to perform laboratory analysis to make a case to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration that the product is ready for human testing.

The WartPath team includes six individuals.

Blue KC congratulates the intelligent and ambitious WartPatch team on their incredible innovation and accomplishment!
